We try so So SO hard to trap and neuter any feral and stray cats that we find, but every once in a while we miss one, or a new one arrives on our property. Our most recent clutch of feral kittens was born last summer - a group of five darling snugglies who all received spice-y names: Pepper, Basil, Marjoram ("Margie"), Sage, and Saffron.

Basil is pretty friendly but Saffron is FOR SURE the one who acts the most like a pet cat. Here she is perched adorably near the side door, where she co-opted a dog bed for her personal use:

This cat is awesome for several reasons: 1) she's adorable and friendly

2) she captures mice (kind of the main job of a barn cat, really)

3) she doesn't ever try to come in the house (we have enough cat hair in there as it is), but she sits right by the side door to give and receive snuggles as the humans enter and exit the house

If you ever come to visit Rancho Roben, you will hopefully get a chance to snuggle for yourself.
